GlyDerm’s key ingredient – glycolic acid – is derived from sugar cane. It is a type of alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin, exposing smoother, softer layers of skin.
Unlike many glycolic acid skin care products that irritate the skin, GlyDerm® has created a formula that is “esterified.” This process makes the glycolic acid more tolerable to the skin without the need to reduce the amount that is included in the product. Many of the formulations are in different strengths (5%, 10%, and 12%) so that more patients can benefit from them without experiencing irritation.
