JUVÉDERM® Ultra and Ultra XC are both HA (hyaluronic acid) dermal fillers that have been in use for lines and wrinkles in the U.S. market since 2006. Within our practice, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC has been widely utilized for lip augmentation, softening of nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and the pre-jowl sulci. This product has a higher affinity for absorption of water and therefore can provide more lift and volume approximately 2-4 weeks after injection. JUVÉDERM® Ultra/Ultra Plus products are developed with Hylacross Technology which provides for a smooth-consistency gel with blended particle size. It was a first of its kind in HA fillers and provides for a soft, smooth, natural appearance to the augmented area.
Possible side effects that are generally temporary, mild-moderate and last 7 days or less:
- redness
- pain/tenderness
- firmness
- swelling
- lumps/bumps
- bruising
- itching
- discoloration
Pre-Treatment Considerations:
- Tell your doctor if you are using medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners, as this may result in increased bruising. Alcohol, Fish Oil, and Flax Seed can also thin the blood. If possible stop these medications/supplements 7-10 days prior to treatment. Never stop a prescribed medication prior to checking with your medical physician.
- Do not perform strenous exercise for 24 hours after treatment
- Avoid extensive sun exposure or heat for 24 hours after treatment
